Vietnam ADOC Center Alternative

From 2005 to June 19, 2013, the ADOC Center was established in Vietnam, and 105,519 people have been trained. These centers primarily focus on training instructors, ICT skills for women and children, and enhancing the e-commerce capability of local SMEs.

VCCI (2005)

VCCI is the ADOC & DOC Partnership Office established in 2005, serving as the first office in Vietnam to ensure smooth project operations. In 2005, the ADOC project collaborated with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) to establish the first training center in Vietnam to enhance competitiveness and IT skills for SMEs. By 2010, 76 similar centers had been established across 10 ADOC member countries, providing training for 160,000 people.

University of Agriculture and Forestry (2005)

Nong Lam is the Telecommunications Center of ADOC centers established in 2005. We have currently ended cooperation with the University of Agriculture and Forestry.

People’s Committee of Thai Binh Province (2005)

The People’s Committee of Thai Binh Province is the Operations Center of the ADOC centers established in 2005. Currently, we have ended cooperation with Nong Lam University.

VCCI-HCMC (2006)

VCCI-HCMC is the Telecommunication Center of ADOC established in 2006. On May 6, 2010, the ADOC Secretariat organized the “ADOC 2.0 Signing & Sponsorship Ceremony,” marking continued collaboration with District 9 Vocational Center, VCCI-HCMC, and EDEN Social Welfare Foundation (HCM) at VCCI (Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, HCMC). The ADOC project has offered women, children, disadvantaged individuals, and SMEs opportunities to learn computer skills and entrepreneurship in Vietnam since 2005. We hope VCCI-HCMC will provide more opportunities for Vietnamese children and women.

TUAF (2006)

TUAF is an electronic school established in 2006. TUAF stands for “Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry,” located in northern Vietnam. In collaboration with Cornell University in the USA and ADOC (APEC Digital Opportunity Center), VIA has donated a complete VIA pc-1 Community Solution to Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry (TUAF), in the poorer mountainous region of northern Vietnam, to establish a Community Information and Learning Center.

EDEN (2006)

EDEN is the Electronic Care Center established in Vietnam in 2006. On May 6, 2010, the ADOC Secretariat held the “ADOC 2.0 Signing & Sponsorship Ceremony,” marking ongoing collaboration with District 9 Vocational Center, VCCI-HCMC, and EDEN Social Welfare Foundation (HCM) at VCCI (Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, HCMC).

The event took place in Ho Chi Minh City on May 6, 2010, with the presence of government officials and NGOs, including Mr. Jerry SK Yang (Representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City). The ADOC Secretariat donated 10 desktops to VCCI and 2 netbooks to the EDEN Social Welfare Organization (HCM).

The ADOC project has provided women, children, disadvantaged persons, and SMEs opportunities to learn computer skills and start businesses in Vietnam since 2005.

District 9 Vocational Training Center, HCMC (2008)

District 9 of Ho Chi Minh City is an ADOC Electronic Digital Learning Center established in 2008. Located in District 9, HCMC, it also functions as a employment training center aiming to train local residents and youths. Currently, it has 12 desktop computers, a projector, and digital cameras.

Vietnam E-commerce Association (2008)

This center was established to explore Vietnam’s e-commerce platform based on traditional commerce, but with an industry facing risks of information leakage, according to a seminar organized by the Vietnam Software Association (Vinasa) and the Southern Office—Vietnam E-commerce Association (VECOM).

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Dung, spokesperson for VECOM’s southern region, stated that domestic e-commerce has developed rapidly despite barriers like payment methods, but security issues remain a challenge. Mr. Phung Hai, Head of Network System and Security at Vinasa and Marketing Director at MiSoft, said information security is a difficult challenge for businesses and customers, as hackers in Vietnam are becoming more sophisticated.

Women & Development Center (2009)

This Digital Learning Center of ADOC 2.0 was established in 2009. It was set up under the order of the Chief of Staff of the Republic of Vietnam. It aims to improve productivity and living standards for Vietnamese women. It also helps women run guesthouses, conference centers, and vocational training centers.

Sonadezi College of Technology and Management (2009)

Sonadezi is a Digital Learning Center of ADOC 2.0 established in 2009. The college was founded in 2005 in Vietnam, located in the northeastern part of Ho Chi Minh City, which is a major economic zone in the south and southeastern region. Founded by a domestic enterprise in 2005, it plays an important role in social development and trade in southern Vietnam.

Binh Duong College of Fine Arts, Binh Duong (2010)

Binh Duong College of Fine Arts in Binh Duong is an ADOC 2.0 Digital Electronics Education Center, established in 2010, along with Taipei School in Ho Chi Minh City, Lam Dong Provincial Continuing Education Center, and TTZ. Due to close cooperation with the Vietnamese government and domestic enterprises, the ADOC project has excelled in Vietnam. Subsequently, ADOC decided to invest more resources into Vietnam, hoping to soon bridge the digital divide so that everyone in Vietnam has equal opportunities.

Lam Dong Provincial Continuing Education Center (2010)

Lam Dong Provincial Continuing Education Center is an ADOC 2.0 Digital Learning Center established in 2010, together with Taipei School in Ho Chi Minh City, TTZ, and Binh Duong College of Fine Arts. With close cooperation with the Vietnamese government and domestic enterprises, the ADOC project has successfully accomplished its mission in Vietnam. Then, ADOC decided to invest more resources into Vietnam, with the hope of soon reducing the digital gap so everyone has a fair opportunity.

Taipei School in Ho Chi Minh City (2010)

Taipei School in Ho Chi Minh City is an ADOC 2.0 Digital Center, established in 2010, alongside TTZ, Lam Dong Provincial Continuing Education Center, and Binh Duong College of Fine Arts. With close collaboration with the Vietnamese government and local enterprises, the ADOC project has excelled in Vietnam. Subsequently, ADOC has decided to invest more resources into Vietnam, aiming to bridge the digital gap and ensure equal opportunities for all Vietnamese people.

“Vietnam World Vision Vocational Center, Phuoc Son, Quang Nam” (2011)

APEC Digital Opportunity Center

Vietnam World Vision is an APEC Digital Opportunity Center founded in 2011. Vietnam World Vision (WVV) has operated in Vietnam since 1960, providing support for orphans and orphanages. WVV has developed programs to support the homeless, provide education and healthcare for children separated from their families, and rehabilitation services for orthopedics.

“Vietnam World Vision Support Center, Nguyen Ba Ngoc Primary School, Phuoc Son, Quang Nam” (2011)

Vietnam World Vision is an APEC Digital Opportunity Center founded in 2011. WVV has been operating in Vietnam since 1960, supporting orphans and orphanages. The programs include assistance for homeless children, education, healthcare, and orthopedics rehabilitation services. The center was equipped with 42 notebooks by ADOC. To date, 10 training courses have been organized, with 312 primary students aged 9-11 years old, including 162 girls. Basic ICT training.

Quang Tri Information Technology Center – Science & Technology (2011)

The ADOC Secretariat launched two new APEC Digital Opportunity Centers in Quang Tri province and Hue city, Vietnam, on June 15. The centers were established in cooperation with local partners the Quang Tri Science – Technology Information Center and Zhi Shan Foundation. On June 16, the ADOC Secretariat, in cooperation with the local partner World Vision Vietnam, inaugurated two more ADOC centers in Phuoc Son district. During the opening ceremony in Hanoi, Dr. Chih-Kung Lee, on behalf of the ADOC Secretariat, symbolically presented two centers to Vietnam World Vision, with Mr. Chih-Peng Huang witnessing the event.

International Humanitarian Organization, Hue Branch (2011)

We organized the “Inauguration and Donation Ceremony of ADOC Digital Centers” at Quang Vinh II Primary School, Hue, Vietnam, on June 19. ASUS Vietnam donated 20 ASUS personal computers to Zhi Shan Foundation, making the total of 19 ADOC digital centers in Vietnam. The ADOC Secretariat collaborated with Zhi Shan Foundation to establish the ADOC Digital Training Centers. We invited the Deputy Director of Quang Điền Education Department, Hue – Nguyen Thai Hiep, and ASUS Vietnam Director – Jeff Lo, to participate in our program.

Zhi Shan Foundation (2012)

ADOC hosted the “ADOC Digital Center Opening and Donation Ceremony” at Quang Vinh Secondary School in Hue, Vietnam, on June 19, 2012. ASUS Vietnam donated 20 ASUS personal computers to Zhi Shan Foundation, bringing the total number of ADOC digital centers in Vietnam to 19. The ADOC Secretariat collaborated with Zhi Shan Foundation to establish the ADOC Digital Training Centers. We invited the Vice President of Quang Điền Education Department, Hue – Nguyen Thai Hiep, and ASUS Vietnam Director – Jeff Lo, to participate in our program.
