From 2006 to June 2013, three ADOC centers were established in Papua New Guinea, and 8,214 people have been trained. These centers mainly focus on trainer training and providing basic ICT skills to the community and universities.
UNITECH (2006)
Unitech is the first ADOC center in Papua New Guinea and also serves as the ADOC & DOC Partner Office. Unitech promotes collaboration with the private sector and NGOs to enhance ICT capacity through supporting marginalized groups in society, such as women, children, and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.
Among the 70,000 beneficiaries of the project, 4,347 are from PNG. Mr. Brian Kakini, Unitech’s Director of Planning, said that based on what he has seen, the ADOC project has been very successful, benefiting many people.
The center at Unitech organizes courses on basic computer skills, such as introductions to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, which have benefited many ordinary people.

University of Papua New Guinea (2011)

The University of Papua New Guinea, also known as UPNG, is the latest APEC Digital Opportunity Center in Papua New Guinea. The APEC Digital Opportunity Center has launched a second center in Port Moresby. The project operates from the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG). It aims to help APEC member economies improve ICT application capacity and turn the digital divide into digital opportunities.
Minister of Information and Communications Henao Iduhu thanked Taiwan for maintaining the ADOC since 2005. He stated that Papua New Guinea government officials participated in three programs in Taipei as part of capacity building under this initiative. These programs include the ADOC 2006 training week for trainers and the ICT Elite Information camp.
